Aprilaire Coil Cleaning: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
If your Aprilaire air purifier or dehumidifier isn’t working the way it used to, the coil is often the first place we look. In Las Vegas, an Aprilaire coil cleaning typically costs between $180 and $420 installed, and we complete most jobs in a single visit. The way owners usually discover a problem is gradual: the unit runs longer, the air feels warmer or more humid, and the power bill creeps up month after month without an obvious cause.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Aprilaire, but we’ve been working on their equipment across Las Vegas since long before Aprilaire became the default choice for whole-home air quality. What that means for you: we know these units by model number, not by guesswork.
Which Aprilaire Models This Applies To
Coil cleaning applies to the Aprilaire dehumidifier line more than anything else: the E-series (E080, E100, E130) and the older 1700-series units that are still running in a lot of Las Vegas homes. These coils sit directly in the dehumidifier cabinet, and they pull moisture from air that’s already carrying dust, skin cells, and whatever else is floating through your return ducts. Over time, that becomes a film on the coil surface.
The compatibility gotcha to watch: Aprilaire doesn’t make one universal coil. The E080 uses a different coil assembly than the E100 or E130, and none of them are interchangeable with the 1700-series. Before ordering anything, check the data plate inside the cabinet door. You’re looking for the model number, which starts with “E” on newer units or a four-digit number on older ones. If the label is faded or missing, we can identify it by the unit’s physical dimensions and the control board layout.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for coil cleaning itself, there’s no part to buy. Cleaning is labor and chemistry. But if the coil is beyond cleaning and needs replacement, we stock OEM coils for the E080 and E100 on the truck, and we can source the E130 or 1700-series coil within two business days. For other air-quality brands, we also carry parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier units.

Signs Your Aprilaire Coil Cleaning Is Failing
- Humidity levels won’t come down. The coil can’t shed moisture efficiently when it’s coated in film, so the dehumidifier runs but doesn’t remove water. In Las Vegas, where monsoon season sends indoor humidity spiking in July and August, this is the most common complaint we hear.
- The unit ices over, then thaws into a puddle. A clogged coil restricts airflow across the surface, dropping the coil temperature below freezing. The ice melts when the compressor cycles off, and homeowners find water on the floor around the unit.
- Musty smell when the unit runs. Organic material trapped on the coil feeds bacteria and mold. In a desert climate, people assume dry air means no mold, but inside a dehumidifier cabinet the conditions are consistently damp. It happens here just like anywhere else.
- The unit cycles on and off every few minutes. A dirty coil can’t absorb heat properly, which trips the internal overload and short-cycles the compressor. You’ll hear it click on, hum, then shut off before the fan ever ramps up to speed.
- Energy use climbing with no change in habits. A coated coil means the compressor has to work harder and longer to hit the same setpoint. If your summer NV Energy bill is noticeably higher than last year and nothing else changed, the coil is a prime suspect.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, expect to pay between $180 and $420 for a professional Aprilaire coil cleaning. The low end covers a straightforward E080 or E100 with easy cabinet access, where the coil is still in decent shape and just needs a thorough cleaning. The higher end is the E130 or 1700-series, units that are older, harder to access, or need deeper disassembly to reach the coil. If the coil is corroded or damaged beyond cleaning, replacement adds $280 to $610 in parts depending on the model, plus the labor to swap it.
Every coil cleaning we do in Las Vegas includes the full job: coil removal or in-place access, application of a commercial coil cleaner rated for Aprilaire’s aluminum and copper construction, a rinse and dry cycle, reassembly, and a full system test. Before any work starts, you receive a written price. That’s not an estimate that can change after the fact. It’s the number you pay.
Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the coil isn’t clean or the unit doesn’t perform the way it should within a year of service, we return and make it right in writing, at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a real difference between changing an air filter and cleaning an Aprilaire coil. You can and should handle the basic maintenance yourself: the washable pre-filter, the MERV filter replacement, and wiping down the outside of the cabinet. That’s routine work, and doing it keeps the coil cleaner between professional visits.
What you shouldn’t do is open the coil compartment and spray it with household cleaner. Aprilaire coils are aluminum-finned and sit tight against the refrigerant lines. Bending a fin or nicking a line turns a $250 cleaning into a $700 coil replacement. The coil cleaner itself matters too: foaming cleaners designed for automotive AC coils can eat through the coating on Aprilaire’s coils if left too long. If you’ve opened the unit and can see a layer of gray fuzz or matted dust on the coil, call us at (725) 726-5532 and let us handle it properly.
FAQs
An Aprilaire coil in Las Vegas generally lasts 10 to 15 years before it needs replacement, but desert dust shortens the service interval between cleanings. We recommend a coil inspection and cleaning every 2 to 3 years in Las Vegas homes, more often if you run the dehumidifier through monsoon season. Call (725) 726-5532 to schedule a coil inspection, and we’ll give you a straight answer on whether it needs cleaning or replacement.
A coil that’s dirty can be cleaned. A coil that’s corroded, leaking, or has bent fins beyond straightening cannot be repaired, and we won’t pretend otherwise just to sell a cheaper job. Most Las Vegas homes we visit need a cleaning, not a replacement. The number of times we’ve pitched a replacement on a unit that just needed service: exactly zero. Call (725) 726-5532 and we’ll show you the coil before and after, and you can decide based on what you see.
Most Aprilaire coil cleanings in Las Vegas take 60 to 90 minutes from arrival to final test. Older units or coils with heavy buildup may take up to two hours. You’ll know the full price before we start, and you won’t sit around waiting for a callback or a revised estimate. Call (725) 726-5532 to schedule a window that works for you.
We stock OEM coils for the Aprilaire E080 and E100 on the truck. The E130 and older 1700-series coils are available within two business days through our Las Vegas supplier network. If your unit is down and you can’t wait, we’ll tell you that honestly up front and give you options. Call (725) 726-5532 and ask for Marcus or any of our techs – we’ll confirm availability while you’re on the phone.
